WHAT IS THE BARCELONA LOW EMISSION ZONE?
The Barcelona low emission zone is those areas of the city where the most polluting vehicles cannot enter. They are the cars that do not have the environmental badge of the General Directorate of Traffic, DGT. If they do, they risk receiving a fine.
WHAT AREAS DOES THE BARCELONA LOW EMISSIONS ZONE INCLUDE?
For now, the low emission zones of Barcelona affect Barcelona, L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Sant Adrià de Besòs, a part of Esplugues de Llobregat and Cornellà de Llobregat.
LOW EMISSIONS ZONE UNTIL WHEN WILL THE CURRENT CONTINUE?
By 2025, it is expected that new municipalities will be included and that it will affect 67 populations, these are some:
- All those that surround Barcelona, including Baix Llobregat and Garraf.
- The Vallès Occidental Area.
- The Camp de Tarragona.

- tortosa.
- The Girona conurbation.
- Lleida city.
- The most important capitals of Central Catalonia, such as Vic, Manresa, Igualada, Manlleu or Vilafranca del Penedès, among others.
To circulate in these areas it will be necessary to have a b Barcelona label, but also the 0, the ECO or the C. In general, the Generalitat’s plan is that by the year 2025 all cities with more than 20,000 inhabitants have areas of Low emissions to protect the environment.
LOW EMISSIONS ZONE BARCELONA SCHEDULE
As of January 1, 2023, the hours of the low emission zones in Barcelona will be from Monday to Friday, from 7 in the morning to 8 in the afternoon. During this strip, the most polluting vehicles will not be able to enter the areas that we have already mentioned.
