WHAT IS THE NEW SUSTAINABLE URBAN MOBILITY LAW LIKE?
The New Sustainable Urban Mobility Law is scheduled to be approved during the first quarter of 2023. According to the Government itself, it is a vital tool in order to adapt mobility to new technologies.
This new regulation is committed to collective transport rather than the private car. In addition, you want to handle issues like these:
- Transportation on demand.
- Shared cars.
- Temporary use of vehicles.
- Regulation of autonomous vehicles:

This Law is urgent for the experts, because more than a quarter of greenhouse gas emissions come from transport. It is a figure that is 5 points above the European average.
In addition, this new Law regulates that Low Emission Zones can be established in municipalities with more than 50,000 inhabitants. In which an urban toll can be charged for the circulation of vehicles that exceed the emission limits. More than 150 cities throughout the entire Spanish geography may apply this rate.
For the Government, the one who uses and pollutes has to pay. Public transport is expected to function better so that these areas can be accessed leaving the car aside.
